Sarajevo is the capital city of Bosnia. Although Bosnia was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, it was also claimed by Serbia. 

On the 28th of June, 1914, the Austrian crownprince Franz Ferdinand (and his wife) visited Sarajevo. A group of Serb nationalists, called The Black Hand, planned to assassinate the arch duke while he was visiting the city. They wanted to show how much Bosnians and Serbs hated Austria-Hungary.

After several failed attempts, the leader of the gang, Gavrilo Princip, shot Franz Ferdinand and his wife. 

Austria blamed Serbia for the murder and soon declared war on Serbia. Because of the alliances, several weeks later all of Europe was at war.

On the 28th of june an event happend that led to WW1. The black hand, a group of terrorists tried to kill the Aarsthertog Franz Ferdinand. The first attempt was on the Appelkade, that attempt failed. Because of the first attempt 12 people got injured, the aarsthertog went to the hospital to visit the injured people. The driver of the car got confused and took a wrong turn. Gravila Princip was there to buy a sandwich and shot the aarsthertog and his wife sophie.

GROUP 1

On June 28th 1914, something happened that led to the start of WW1. A group called the Black hand, leaded by Gaurilo Princip, we're preparing the assasination of Franz Ferdinand. Franz Ferdinand was the crown prince of The Austro-Hungarian empire. They planned the assasination while the crown prince was riding to Sarajevo. Their first attempt failed. After they were shook, Princip wwent to get a sandwich. Luckily he could kill the crown prince and his wife.

Bo, Amy and Lynne 

A group called the black hand killed Franz-Ferdinand on the 28th of june 1914 in front of a bakery. Gravilo princip (part of the black hand) is the killer. He shot him in his neck. They did this, because they wanted revange.

GROUP 3

Asli,Owen,Anisha and Fenne 

In june 28th 1924, the assasination of Frans-Ferdinand happened. IT happened in Sarajevo. The Black hand attempted a First attack but iT failed. The Frans-Ferdinant was shot When the chauffeur turned the wrong way

GROUP 4

Nawfal, Deacon, Thom, Annika 

Seven men called the black hand wanted to kill prince Franz Ferdinand. They were big supporters of the nationalism idea and wanted a greater Serbia including Bosnia. They planned the assassination on the 28th of June 1914 in Sarajevo, Bosnia. Prince Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophia were shot by Gavrilo Princip. Six weeks later started world war 1.

Julian, Iris, Sui Chun, Gijs 

July 28 1914 The archduke of Astro-Hungary Franz-Ferdinant was in Sarajevo to show his rule over the Balkan countries. Gavrilo Princip ,a member of the black hand, would have a meeting with 6 people of his gang. Apis would plan the murder on the archduke to claim Bosnia.

GROUP 6

Lara, jarno, elianne 

Before World War 1, Franz Ferdinand and his wife went to the Balkans. When they were there they did a tour in their carriage. As they were driving around, someone threw a bomb on their way, which they only just passed, killing the officials and advisors behind him. Even though there was an attempt made to kill him, he decided to visit the wounded officials in the hospital with no protection, in his open-roofed carriage, with his advisors. He then got shot by Gavrilo Princip on june 28th 1914, on his way and that was basically how the first world war started. why they did it is because the serbs wanted a great Serbia and Serbia did not want Bosnia to be a part of the austro-hungarian empire. Because Austria wanted revance . Then Austria kept annoying them saying they deserved to have their land since they killed their beloved Ferdinand! HORRENDOUS! anyway, serbia ignored and neglected and austria declared war to serbia And that is how WW1 started.

Franz Ferdinand was shot by Gavrilo Princip on june 28, 1914. Gavrilo Princip was member of the Black Hand. He was shot in Bosnia, which was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The serbians wanted Bosnia back, because a lot of Serbians lived in Bosnia. Gavrilo Princip shot Ferdinand with a gun.

Ischa,Mees and Doris. 

The Black hand is a group of 8 people. They were trying to accesinate Franz Ferdinand. In their first try they failed and in the second try Franz Ferdinant was killed on 28th of june 1914 by Gavrila Princip with the use a revolver, and that will be the start of ww1.
