Actions finished in the past

e.g. I visited Berlin last week.

What are irregular verbs?
A verb which has three (3) forms and which does not follow the normal rules.  
You need to learn irregular verbs by heart (see WB pg.94).

Affirmative (positive) irregular verbs

I went home. 
You went home.
He went home.

Negative (Negation) regular & irregular verbs
- Do NOT negate a main verb in English. 
Always use the auxiliary did (Simple Past of 'to do') and the infinitive (base form) of the verb for negations.
There is no difference between regular and irregular verbs in negative sentences

Be, Have and Do 
  • We use be, have and do to form tenses, questions and with negative forms. 
  • When be, have and do are used in this way they are called (primary) auxiliary verbs.
  • You use 'do' or 'does' plus the bare infinitive of a verb to form interrogative and negative sentences in the simple present tense. ...
  • You use 'did' plus the bare infinitive of a verb to form interrogative and negative sentences in the simple past tense.
