1TTO - Dutch Weather Maps

Today we will look at the METEOBLUE weather maps and try to interpret them.  Can you make your own weather forecast? 

Study the weather map (18 March 2021) 

...and answer the questions in the next slide.

- Where do we find the HIGH pressure area on this map, compared to the Netherlands?

- Where is the wind in the Netherlands coming from?

What has changed in the next Weather Map (21 march 2021) Look at the HP area and wind direction.

1. The wind is now coming from the South
2. The temperature is now much lower
3. The temperature is now much higher
4. Nothing much, only the High pressure area has moved a bit South

Indeed, nothing much has changed. The wind is still coming from the North. 

In the next map (25 march 2021) something did change. What has changed?

1. The wind is now coming from the (North)East
2. The wind is now coming from the (South)West
3. The wind is now coming from the (South)East
4. The is now a very strong wind.

As you can see, the wind is now coming from the southwest.. how does this influence the weather?

1. We can expect rainy weather, with strong wind
2. We can expect the weather to become warmer and sunnier
3. We can expect the weather to become colder, but drier.
4. We can expect the weather to become warmer, with more rain.

We can also look back... remember the stormy weather a while ago? On which day was the weather at it's worst?

1. 11 march, because the wind was super strong
2. 17 march, because that was the coldest day
3. 13 march, because we had strong wind and lots of rain
4. 18 march, because the weather was really dull, no rain and no wind...

After this lesson, it is easy to make my own weather forecast!!!
