Question Tags

Wat zijn het?

-Korte vraag aan het eind van de zin om bevestiging te vragen

-Vergelijkbaar met "ja toch?", "toch?", "vind je niet?", "niet waar?"

-Herhaal de persoonsvorm + onderwerp uit de hoofdzin

              She is watching that new Netflix show, isn't she?

 Tag Questions:

Als de zin bevestigend is, is de tag question ontkennend.

Als de zin ontkennend is, is de tag question bevestigend.

Iris can play the piano, can't she?

Staat er een vorm van 'to be' 'to have got' of een hulpwerkwoord  (can/should/will etc.) in de zin? Dan gebruik je deze in de tag question. 

She isn't happy, is she? 

Your mother has got a black car, hasn't she? 

Tom can swim, can't he? 

Is dit niet het geval, dan gebruik je:

Present simple:

- do / don't : They play football, don't they? 

- does / doesn't (bij onderwerpen he/she/it): Your sister  works as a nurse, doesn't she? 

Past simple: 

- did / didn't: You went to the cinema, didn't you?  

You learned something new, didn't you? 

You are going to study for the test, __________ ? 

You are going to study for the test, 

aren't you ? 

You can do it, __________ ?

LET OP!

• Een negatieve question tag met "I" , krijgt een andere vorm (deze moet je uit je hoofd leren).
           - I am a good basketball player, aren't I? 
  
  
• Positieve question tag met "I":  wél gewoon 'am I' 
           -I am not a good basketball player, am I?)

LET OP! LET OP!

• Gebruik altijd een persoonlijk vnw (I, you, we, they, he, she, it) in een question tag.
  
  
• Laura is a great hockey player, isn't Laura she?
  
• Jenny and Ella aren't at school, are Jenny and Ella they?
• The ball isn't on the field, is the ball it?

3 Als er geen am, are, is  en can en have got/has  got in de zin 

staat, dan gebruik je do  of does 

They  hate maths, don't   they?

Lisa   loves  pizza, doesn't  she?

You   know   him,  don't   you?
