On the night of 2nd December 1984, the Union Carbide India Limited a pesticide plant in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India began to leak toxic Methyl Isocyanate (MIC) gas and other poisonous toxins into the atmosphere. Over 5 lac people were exposed and there were up to 15,000 deaths at that time. In addition, more than 20,000 people have died since the accident from gas-related diseases. This accident is known as the world's worst industrial disaster and named as Bhopal Gas Tragedy.
