In the USA:
Insurance is not mandatory. The United States does not have a health system — it has multiple systems. The system is divided into two different programs: Medicaid and Medicare. Medicaid serves poor people and families (about 11% of the population), while Medicare covers people over 65 and the disabled (about 15% of the population).
