You add -'s to singular (enkelvoud) things: 
my friend's car       that dog's toy      Jaimy's bike

You add '  to plural (meervoud) things: 
 my parents' house     those ladies' shoes      the students' books

You add -'s to plurals without an -s:  children's clothes
