Grammar: indirect/reported speech

• Direct speech = directly stating what someone said. You use quotation marks for this. 
• Indirect speech = retelling what someone has said. Since the sentences have already been spoken this is often in the past tense. 
• When changing a sentence from direct to indirect speech, you change the tense and sometimes the pronoun. 

Grammar: indirect/reported speech

present simple -> past simple	"I use a computer at home"	She said she used a computer at home.
present continuous -> past continuous	"I am dancing at the moment."	He said he was dancing at that moment.
past simple -> past perfect	"We baked a cake."	They said they had baked a cake.
present perfect -> past perfect	"We have done our homework."	They said they had done their homework.
will -> would	"I will talk to them."	She said she would talk to them.
am/are/is + going to -> was/were going to	"I am going to Mallorca."	He said he was going to Mallorca.

For reported speech, if the original sentence is in the present simple, you use ___________ in reported speech.
