Past Perfect

Past perfect: gebruik je om aan te geven dat iets vóór iets anders in het verleden is gebeurd. (Na dat we hadden geschaatst gingen we warme chocomel drinken = After we had iceskated we drank some hot chocolate.)

Vorm: had + voltooid deelwoord (3e rijtje/ww+ed) (blz. 229-231)

Vraag lln wie een print versie van de onregelmatige werkwoorden wil hebben.

I came here after you had left.

I walked home as soon as the program had finished.

I had written articles on various topics before he was born.

He had already studied in the library when he came to the class.

She had gone to the coffee shop before she came home.

Past Perfect

Signaalwoorden: when, before, after, as soon as, just, already

Je ziet de past perfect vaak in combinatie met de past simple.

De gebeurtenis het verst in het verleden krijgt de past perfect. 

Prepositions of time and place

In het Engels hebben we 3 voorzetsels van tijd & plaats: in/on/at

Time: 

On: days & dates --> We have soccer on Saturday.

In:  months, years, seasons & parts of a day --> We did our exams in 2010. 

At: holidays and specific times on a day. --> Our school starts at 08:15.

Place:

In: plaatsen algemeen, steden/landen en dingen in een gebied of plaats --> We live in The Netherlands. 

At: specifieke locaties of plaatsen --> I will meet you at the trainstation.

on	op	oppervlaktes, openbaar vervoer
at	op / bij	adressen, specifieke locaties (bijv: ziekenhuis, bioscoop)
