The Imperial System and the Metric System are two different measurement systems for things like distances (afstanden) volumes(hoeveelheden) and weights (gewicht).

Imperial Units

Length: inch, foot, yard, mile

Mass/weight: ounce, pound, stone

Volume (liquid): pint, quart, gallon 

Temperature: Fahrenheit
