Past Simple 

When I was 18 years old, I graduated from MBO.

My best friend and I grew up together.

I played volleyball for four years.

My best friend studied in Istanbul and I visited her there. 

Past simple REGULAR

The Past Simple Tense is used to refer to actions that were completed in a time period before the present time. 

Past simple REGULAR

To use the past simple, you add a –ed to a regular verb. If the verb already ends in –e (like cycle), then you just ad –d instead.

Signaalwoorden voor de past

Past simple IRREGULAR

Irregular verb = onregelmatige werkwoord

Some verbs have an irregular form in the past simple. For these verbs (which are known as irregular verbs), there isn’t a rule you can follow.

Examples

When I was ( to be )18 years old, I graduated ( graduate ) from MBO.

My best friend and I grew ( to grow ) up together.

I played ( to play ) volleyball for four years.

My best friend studied ( to study ) in Istanbul and I visited ( to visit ) her
