"the" definite article (=bepalend lidwoord)
Difference between use of Dutch "het" and English "the". 

For seasons, only use "the" if you specify which particular season you mean:

I love spring!                                  No "the" - general
I hated the spring of 2020.     Use "the" - specific

This also goes for: meals and general terms. 

Life is beautiful.                                             No "the" - general term
Dinner is my favourite meal.                    No "the" - meal

I loved the dinner she cooked me.        Use "the" - specific.
The life he lived was beautiful.                Use "the" - specific.

For institutions like hospital, school and university
* Use "the" when you talk about the actual building. 
* Don't use "the" when you talk about the function of the building. 

I hate going to university.               No "the" - reference to function
The university building is ugly.    Use "the" - building.
