Rise to power
  • 30th of January, 1933:  Hitler becomes chancellor  of Germany.
  • 17th of January, 1933: Reichstagfire.
  • 23th of March 1933: enabling act. Hitler is able to accept laws without the approval of parliament.

Nazification

  • Hitler wants to make Germany powerful and calls it the ''Third Reich''.
  • He turns Germany into a totalitarian state.
  • Gleichschaltung: The laws on how Germans had to live made by the Nazis.
Everything the people of a country think and do is controlled by the state.

  • Political parties are banned and  political opponents are arrested. 
  • The concentration camp Dachau is built to hold these opponents.
  • Dachau was the first of many.

  • The SA expect to be rewarded but the opposite is true.
