The importance of a conclusion in an essay is because it sums up the argument and states your point of view very clearly. 

In Pairs: 
Focus on the different endings, A and B. Discuss the question together.

An essay must be well organised and present a logical argument. This means that you should always plan what you are going to write. The esssay in ex.5 is well organised, it uses linking words well to make the argument easy to follow. 
Match the functions to the paragraph in the essay. Identify a key phrases that helped you identify the functions.

In an exam, you won't have time to write two versions of your essay, so it is very important to make a plan. 
Spending just 10 minutes planning can make a big difference. This plan can simply be notes under headings but it will help with paragraphing and with including everything required in the task.
