  • -s at the end (cat -> cats)​
  • -es at the end if it ends in –s, -ss, -sh, -ch, -x or -z (bus -> buses) (tax -> taxes)​
  • Double the –s (gas – gasses)​
  • -ve + s if it ends on –f or –fe (wive -> wives) (wolf -> wolves)​
  • If Y than –ies (city -> cities)​
  • If the letter before the –y is a vowel add an –s (boy -> boys)​

  • If it ends in –us plural is –i (cactus -> cacti) (octopus -> octopi)​
  • If it ends in –is, the plural is –es (analysis – analyses)​
  • If it ends in –on plural is in –a (criterion – criteria)​
  • Some nouns do not change (sheep – sheep) (species – species)​
