- Predictions with evidence: They are going to miss their train.

- Plan/intention: I am going to invite her to our party. 

Form:

am/are/is + going to + verb

When do we use will?

- Predictions without evidence:  I think you will pass your exams.

- Offer: I'll help you with your homework.

- Promise: Sue will give your book back next week.

- Decisions in the moment:  I won't call her now, she is not at home.
