                                  Signaalwoorden (linking words)

Om een tekst beter te kunnen begrijpen, kun je letten op signaalwoorden. Signaalwoorden geven verbanden tussen onderdelen van een tekst aan. 

Met signaalwoorden kun je ook vaak bepalen wat het doel van de schrijver is:

• een voorbeeld geven: for example, such as, like

• extra informatie geven: also, moreover, on top of that, besides, and, what’s more, furthermore

• iets tegenspreken: however, but, instead, although, except

• een reden geven: that’s why, because, obviously

• een voorwaarde geven: if, whether, unless

• een volgorde aangeven: first, secondly, finally

• een conclusie trekken: so, therefore
