Possessive 's

Je gebruikt de 's om aan te geven dat iets van iemand is (een bezit). 

Dit kan bij namen van mensen en dieren in het enkelvoud.

Als een woord al eindigt op een "s", krijg je alsnog +'s.

The cat's toy/ The dog's bone / Maria's laptop / James's sock

Possessive '

Je gebruikt de ' als een woord in het meervoud eindigt op een s.

Als het woord niet eindigt op een "s", dan gebruik je 's. 

• Elephants' ears are big
• The giraffes' necks are long
• The children's room are big

Possessive "of"

Als je wilt zeggen dat iets ergens bij hoort, gebruik je het woordje of. 

• Amsterdam is the capital of the Netherlands.
• The name of the ship was Titanic.
