In the coming weeks you will learn about the south of Limburg in Roman Times. And so you will find out about your own Roman roots!

ROMAN HIGHWAY
Maastricht, Heerlen and Landgraaf arose in the first century ad. They were all places at the Via Belgica. 
So in this first lesson about our Roman past we will need to explore this important 'Roman highway' . You will watch a video about the 'Euregio' in Roman Times. 
While watching the video (10 minuten) you will have to answer questions about the video. Good luck!!

VIA BELGICA - INTRO
The Via Belgica is a 400 kilometre Roman highway running from Cologne to Boulogne-sur-Mer on the northern coast of France. The road was constructed in the first century and runs through the South of Limburg. The Via Belgica  was built for military purposes.  During the Pax Romana, the road was increasingly used for commercial means. It played an important role in the spread of Roman culture.
