PAST SIMPLE

Slide 5 - Diapositive

Negations in the past simple
Did you watch tv last night? No, I didn't watch tv last night.

Je hebt geleerd dat je bij de past simple -ed achter het werkwoord zet. Dit is bij vragen en ontkenningen NIET nodig.

Slide 6 - Diapositive

Negations
Om een ontkenning te maken in de past simple heb je het hulpwerkwoord 'did' nodig, je zet namelijk altijd did not of de afkorting didn't voor het hele werkwoord zonder -ed:
I did not / didn't watch tv last night.
You did not / didn't watch tv last night.
He did not / didn't watch tv last night.
We did not / didn't watch tv last night.
You did not / didn't watch tv last night.
They did not / didn't watch tv last night.

Slide 7 - Diapositive

Negations
Wanneer je van een bevestigende zin in de past simple een ontkenning wil maken, plak je altijd did not of didn't voor het werkwoord en haal je -ed van het werkwoord af

Kijk maar naar het volgende voorbeeld.

We worked very hard yesterday. -> We didn't work very hard yesterday.

Slide 8 - Diapositive

Uitzondering met vorm van 'to be'
Als er een vorm van to be (was/were) in de zin staat:
Zet n't (not) achter het werkwoord.

I was sleepy > I wasn't sleepy.
You were too late > You were not too late.
