Wat zijn tag questions?

- Een korte vraag die je stelt aan het einde van een zin

- In het Nederlands vergelijkbaar met "...., toch?"

Hoe maak je een tag question?

• stap 1: staat er een hulpwerkwoord in de zin?

Dan gebruik je dat werkwoord in de tag.

You can see me, can't you?

I shouldn't do that, should I?

hulpwerkwoorden zijn:

can

could

have

will

must

should

Hoe maak je een tag question?

• stap 2: Staat er GEEN hulpwerkwoord in de zin?

Gebruik dan een vorm van do/does/did.

You own a dog, don't you?

You sister doesn't walk to school, does she?

• stap 3: Staat er een vorm van "to be" in de zin? Dan gebruik je die.

He's 14 years old, isn't he?

They are brothers, aren't they?

Lola isn't very tall, is she?

Wat valt nou op?

Is de hoofdzin positief? Dan is de tag negatief.

The pizza is too hot, isn't it?

Is de hoofdzin negatief? Dan is de tag positief.

Marcus shouldn't eat pizza, should he?
