  • LET OP 1: als het onderwerp van de zin he, she of it is,                    dan zet je -s achter het werkwoord.
  • LET OP 2: als bij he, she en it het werkwoord op een                         -s klank eindigt, dan zet je -es achter het                         werkwoord                                                                         (Een -s klank = -ch / -sh / -s / -x / -z)

Eindigt het zelfstandig naamwoord op medeklinker+o, dan krijg je +es 
(tomato > tomatoes / hero > heroes > echo > echoes)

Als het zelfstandig naamwoord eindigt op medeklinker+y, dan krijg je -ies op het eind (city > cities / baby > babies / country > countries), de -y valt weg
Let op
Eindigt het zelfstandig naamwoord op -f, dan verandert de -f in -ves 
(wolf > wolves / knife > knives)
Uitzonderingen 1
Sommige zelfstandig naamwoorden zijn altijd enkelvoud  (hair / fish / sheep)
Sommige zelfstandig naamwoorden zijn altijd meervoud (trousers / glasses / scissors)
Uitzonderingen 2
Sommige zelfstandig naamwoorden hebben een eigen meervoudsvorm
(man > men / child > children / tooth > teeth / foot > feet / mouse > mice)
