When do we use it?

When something happened in the past and continues in the present or there is a connection to here and now. 
We have washed the car. It's now clean.           I have done my homework for French. 

Also about events and experiences up to the present.
I've had a headache for two weeks.

have/has + past participle

Signal words: juf(just, until, for) en (ever, never) sysar (since, yet, so far, already. recently)

Nouns that end in -f or -fe  change to -ves in the plural form.
1 elf -> 2 elves           1 wolf -> 2 wolves         1 life -> 2 lives
Some singular nouns have their own form. There is no rule. You just need to know them.
1 mouse -> 2 mice       a woman -> 3 women      1 foot -> 2 feet
Some singular nouns stay the same in plural. 
1 fish -> 2 fish       1 sheep -> a dozen sheep          1 deer -> several deer
