Bij de werkwoorden to be (am, are, is, was, were), have got, of hulpwerkwoord zoals can worden vooraan de zin gezet met daarachter not.

Ook andere hulpwerkwoorden mogen ontkennend en vragend gemaakt worden: could - should - would - must- will-

• Isn't/aren't/wasn't/weren't
• Haven't got/hasn't got/hadn't got
• Can't/couldn't
• shouldn't, wouldn't, mustn't, won't

Hoe te gebruiken

Staan er andere werkwoorden in zin
> don't (I, you, we, they)/ doesn't (he/she/it) gebruiken bij ontkennende vragen in de tegenwoordige tijd.
> didn't bij vragen in de verleden tijd.

Let op! Daarna volgt het onderwerp en het hele werkwoord.

Het werkwoord "have got" mag wel ontkennend en vooraan in de zin gezet worden om een negative question te maken
