Writing an informal letter

• When do we use formal speech of language in writing?

Informal writing:

• friends, relatives,  children.
• we are allowed to use contractions, idioms, phrasal verbs and shorter sentences.

When is it appropriate to use informal language in writing?

• Ms. Susan Jones  - It should just be the first name, ‘Susan’
