Toelichting per stip in het boek.

1. Twee werkwoorden met to ertussen: het eerste werkwoord gaat in de juiste tijd, na to het hele werkwoord (He forgot to return his book.)
2. Je gebruikt deze ing vorm als je in het Nederlands de of het voor het ww zet 'Mijn baan is het monitoren van ziekteverzuim.'
3. en 4. Soms maakt het niet uit of je to + werkwoord of de ing-vorm gebruikt. Andere keren verandert de betekenis van de zin. Dat heeft te maken met hoe algemeen of juist specifiek iets is voor een bepaald moment.
