Revision for the P3 test

Learning Objective

At the end of the lesson you will have revised and practised the grammar for the test.

Revision: the Past Simple 

The Past Simple Tense is used to describe completed actions in the past.

E.g. I walked to the store yesterday.

Recap the rules of the Past Simple Tense and provide examples. Encourage students to ask questions.

Yesterday is a word we use to talk about the past. Can you give some other examples?

There are 2 types of verbs. Do you remember which?

How do we form the past tense of regular verbs?
Think of the verb play.

Did you play yesterday? --> This is a question in the past.
Make a question of this sentence:

She walked yesterday.

He didn't go to school yesterday. --> This is a negative sentence in the past.
Turn the sentence below into a negative sentence:

He came to my house.

Exercise: Past Simple Tense

Complete the following sentence with the correct form of the 

Yesterday, I ____ (go) to the cinema.

________ you ______ (watch) a film last night?

A year ago I ______ (visit) Italy.

She _____ (not play) a tennis game last weekend.

Revision: Present Continuous 

The Present Continuous Tense is used to describe actions that are happening now.

E.g. You are listening to the teacher.

 

It is also used to describe actions happening in the near future. 

E.g. I am meeting my friends tomorrow.

Form

POSITIVE:     

She is studying for the exam.

NEGATIVE:      

I am not studying for the exam.

 

QUESTION:       

Are we studying for the exam?

Ask 1 question about something you haven't quite understood yet.

The students indicate here (in question form) with which part of the material they still have difficulty. For the teacher, this not only provides insight into the extent to which the students understand/master the material, but also a good starting point for the next lesson.
