Present Perfect

Je gebruikt de present perfect om aan te geven dat iets in het verleden begonnen is en….

 ..nu nog bezig is: Lee has lived in New York since the summer of 2006. …nu nog invloed heeft: I have lost my keys at Rick’s party.

 Oftewel.. De present perfect zegt iets over: 1) het verleden én 2) het nu

De present perfect bestaat uit have/has + voltooid deelwoord 

 Bij een regelmatig werkwoord… have/has + ww-ed

 I have played (present perfect) . 

Wij hebben gespeeld we have played (present perfect) 

He/she >has played

 

Present Perfect voltooid tegenwoordige tijd

Bij een onregelmatige werkwoord ….. have/has + volt. dw (3e rij)

Signaalwoorden: 

Gebruik altijd de present perfect als deze woorden “since, for, in, (for) how long, always, never, ever” in de zin voorkomen 

She has lived in the Netherlands since January. (sinds januari en nu nog steeds)

How long have you had your chihuahua?

Dennis has worked for the company since 1987.

We haven’t seen you in weeks.

He has worked here for ten years. (werkt al tien jaar/ toen begonnen en nog steeds)

Zij woont sinds januari in Nederland. Hoe lang heb jij je chihuahua? Dennis werkt voor het bedrijf sinds 1987.

Je gebruikt FOR om aan te geven hoe lang het verleden tot nu is: He has worked there FOR twenty years. We have lived in this house FOR three decades.

 Present Perfect in combinatie met for geeft duur aan. Present Perfect in combinatie met since geeft begin van duur aan.

It has taken me a while to make this grammar explanation. My life has been quite busy and for that reason I had little time. My week was full of highs and lows. This past weekend I visited my grandmother and went to the zoo with my nephews. I have always wanted to go to the zoo, but I have never been there. At one point I didn’t pay attention to my bag whilst having lunch. So now someone has stolen my bag and I haven’t seen it since. On Monday I heard a colleague saying that someone stole her handbag in Amsterdam. Luckily, she found hers in the train department. I guess she just forgot her handbag. I have never been this lucky…. 

Past Simple gebruik je bij acties die geen invloed meer hebben op het heden of wanneer er een specifiek moment uit het verleden wordt genoemd.

Present Perfect voltooid tegenwoordige tijd

Exercise 1: Maak het gesprek af. Vervoeg de werkwoorden naar de Present Perfect.

John: Hello, Beth, I [1]__________(not see) you for a long time!

Beth: Oh, hi, John. Well, I [2]__________ (be) really busy.

John: I [3]__________ (not hear) from you for two months.

What [4]__________ (you be) doing since?

Beth: Well, I [5]__________ (go) to school

and I [7]__________ (practise) my Dutch John: Dutch? I didn’t know that you could speak Dutch!

Beth: Yes, you see,my father [8]__________ (work) in the Netherlands for some time now. I always thought Dutch was a difficult language, but it’s not so bad really.

John: How long [9]__________ (he live) there?

Beth: For five months now. We’ll be joining him as soon as I pass my exams. We’re also going to live in the Netherlands!
John: Oh, no, then I’ll never see you again!

Exercise 2: Beantwoord de vijf vragen. Gebruik steeds de woorden tussen haakjes.

 Example: How long have you been at this school? (for – three years now) I’ve been at my school for three years now.

1 How long have you lived in your town now? (since – last summer)

2 Since when have you known your best friend? (since – primary school)

3 How long have you learned English at school? (for – five years)

4 Since when has your English teacher worked at your school ? (since - 1999)

5 How long have you lived in your town now? (for – seven years)

Exercise 3: Vervoeg de werkwoorden naar de Past Simple of de Present Perfect. 

1. I ____ (take) extra English lessons when I was 12.

2. They ____ (be) to London three times already.

3. Really? I didn’t know. She ____ (tell + never) me that story.

4. I ____ (clean) my room. Can you tell? (Kun je dat zien?)

5. I ____ (clean) my room last Friday.

6. My sister ____ (try) to call Lily a couple of times since she went on holiday.
