Today's goals:
-You will know the difference between the future tenses
(present simple, present continuous, will/shall, going to and about to.
- You know how to apply the future tenses in a sentence.

Future tenses: what do you remember?

Present Simple
verb (+(e)s) 

Used for:
• Timetables, scheduled plans

The train leaves at nine o’clock.
Does the movie start at eight?

Present Continuous
to be (am, is, are) + verb+ing

• Future plans (we already made arrangements for this plan e.g bought tickets, made reservations etc.)

I am taking my sister to the dentist this afternoon.
We are playing a soccer match on Sunday.

Future Simple: Going to
be going to + infinitive

- we have the intention of executing a plan in the future
- we talk about predictions based on evidence
I am going to study abroad. (future plan)
He is going to ask her to be his wife. (Intention)
I can hardly see the moon, it's going to be a dark night. (prediction)

Future Simple: Will/Shall
will/shall + infinitive

- spontaneous decisions (actions we decide as we speak)
- predictions based on opinion (but without evidence) (think, believe, hope, expect)
- promises/ offers (in questions use shall)
- future facts (that can’t be changed)
Examples:
I see there’s no bread left, I will buy a loaf after work. (spontaneous decision)
I think they will not/won’t win the game. (prediction based on opinion)
Shall I take your luggage? (offer)
The sun will rise tomorrow. (future fact, can’t be changed)

Be about to
''to be'' (am, is, are) about to + infinitive

- for actions which will happen immediately
- used with not to suggest someone has no intention of doing something

Please open the door! I am about to drop my bags.
I am not about to change into a different dress just because you don’t like the colour pink!

How to form the future with Will/Shall
Will / Shall + infinitive
