The Scottish Highlands is a region in Scotland that covers the northern two-thirds of the country. 

It is characterized by rugged mountains (ruige bergen), 

deep lochs,

 and beautiful glens.

Loch = scottisch name (lake/meer)

Glen = scottisch name (valley/vallei)

Geography

The Scottish Highlands are dominated by mountain ranges such as the Cairngorms and the Grampians. It is also home to the famous Loch Ness, known for its mythical creature, the Loch Ness Monster.
