Reading tips

- Read the Title(s)

- Read subtitles/headings

- Look at the illustrations

- Predict what the text will be about

- Read the question(s) before you read the text

- When reading the text: underline important information

--> usually a sentence or a few words per paragraph

Remember: reading makes you a better reader! (+ study vocabulary)

Quoting

-When you want to quote from a text, you start with single quotation marks (‘). Copy the first two words, add (...) to indicate you’ve left out a piece, and end again with last two words and single quotation marks (’).

– If you’re quoting a whole sentence, start with a capital letter.

– If you’re only quoting part of a sentence, don’t start with a capital letter, but with a lower case one

Murder case

Marissa and Juliana went out for drinks together. They ordered iced teas. Juliana was really thirsty and finished five in the time it took Marissa to finish one. The drinks were all poisoned, but only Marissa died. How is that possible? Discuss the murder case.
