Bij comparisons, vergelijk je altijd dit soort woorden:

1. zelfstandige naamwoorden (nouns)
2. bijvoeglijke naamwoorden (adjectives)
3. werkwoorden

slecht - slechter - slechtst(e)

bad - worse - worst

Wat gebeurt er bij langere woorden van 2 of meer lettergrepen?

er zijn ook lange bijvoeglijke naamwoorden. Deze hebben 3 of meer lettergrepen

• difficult

Bij deze lange woorden maak je de vergrotende trap door more voor het woord te zetten

• more beautiful
• more intelligent
• more wonderful
• more exciting

Bij deze lange woorden maak je de overtreffende  trap door most voor het woord te zetten

• most beautiful
• most intelligent
• most wonderful
• most exciting

een aantal woorden van 2 lettergrepen krijgen ook more en most

bijvoorbeeld famous en boring
