-Every year a new part of stem(internode) grows from a bud.

-You can count internodes to learn the age of a stem.

-Woody plants make wood in the cell wall to stay firm.

-Herbaceous plants use water in vacuoles to stay firm.

-Annual rings have a light and a dark part.

Dark: made in spring (early wood)

Light: Made in summer (late wood)

-Amount of rain: Drought(droogte) or lots of rain.
