Unit 5 Lesson 2 - Grammar

Voorbeeld: 

We can't go to school, can we?

You do your schoolwork at home, don't you?

Question tags zijn korte vraagjes achter een zin, om bevestiging mee te vragen.  

De makkelijkste manier om Question Tags te maken is met een stappenplan:

1.  Wat is het werkwoord in de zin?
2.  Staat er 'not' of 'never' in de zin?  
3.  Over wie gaat het? (kies uit I, you, he, she, it, we, they)

Stap 1. Het werkwoord

Bij de eerste stap zijn er 3 opties.

1. Er staat am/is/are in de zin.

Dan mag je het werkwoord herhalen- He is at home, isn't he?

2. Er staan 2 werkwoorden in de zin.

Dan herhaal je het eerste werkwoord - He can't swim, can he?

3. Er staat 1 werkwoord in de zin, wat je niet kan herhalen.

Gebruik do/don't (I you we they) of does/doesn't (he she it) 

- You love dogs, don't you?

Stap 2, not/never

 Stap 2 moet je zien als een batterij.

Als de zin voor de komma plus is, 

    is achter de komma min. En andersom.

She can't swim, can she?

We never give up, do we?

He's not a nice guy, is he?

Stap 3, Wie?

Kijk goed over wie het gaat, dit staat meestal aan het begin van de zin.  Je mag in de 'tag' alleen I, you, he, she, it, we, they gebruiken. Dus geen namen!

My brothers are so annoying, aren't they?

Jennifer works at Jumbo, doesn't she?

don't you?

isn't he?

aren't they?

aren't you?

You live in Espel, 

James is against animal testing

They're not best mates,

You are doing your homework

Which - bij dingen/dieren

That - bij allebei

That's the teacher who/that gave us so much homework.

I hate homework which/that is too much work.

Als er een komma voor staat, mag je geen That gebruiken! 

I love my friend, who is always there for me. 

I'm looking for a friend ... is a crazy as I am.
