Gerund = ww+ing 

(Farting)

Infinitive = to + hele werkwoord 

(To fart)

-Als zelfstandig naamwoord

Everyone should try dancing.

-Na werkwoorden die een mening uitdrukken (hate, like, love, enjoy)

They love walking long distances.

-Na de werkwoorden to start, to begin, to continue, to stop

I will continue running in a bit.

-Na voorzetsels (after, before, while, at, on, etc.)

I always listen to music while cycling to school.

-Na bepaalde uitdrukkingen (it's no use, it's worth, don't mind, look forward)

Im looking forward to eating at your place.

Je gebruikt de infinitive

-Na werkwoorden die een gevoel of gedachte uitdrukken (to hope, to want, to choose, to expect)

I  want to see that film.

-Na werkwoorden die 'iets zeggen' uitdrukken (to agree, to promise, to demand)

I demand to speak to the manager!

-In combinatie met would love, would hate, would like etc.

I would hate to lose the game.

-Na de werkwoorden to learn, to manage, to fail, to tend.

Actors tend to earn a lot of money.
