TGG cover: symbolism
The eyes represent the eyes on the billboard, overseeing everything. The irises of the eyes project drawings of nude women which are represent the wealthy, and how the novel strips away their outer shell to show their true nature. They also represent the main character's views about the future and his longing to be with the woman he loves. The eyes and the lips represent female protagonist. The green tear represents the green light. And lastly, the blinding lights and signs represent the “roaring” 20’s and main character's huge parties which are a charade to get the attention of his love interest.
