Slide 1 - Diapositive

Slide 2 - Vidéo

Lesson goals:
  • Understand the velocity-time graph (v,t)
  • Use the formula for acceleration
  • Use the (v,t)-diagram to calculate distance/ displacement

Slide 3 - Diapositive

drawing a (v,t)-diagram
v - vertical axis
t - horizontal axis

0-4 s Velocity increases therefore
the object is accelerating
after 4s the motion is constant
uniform motion

Slide 4 - Diapositive

Acceleration
An object has a constant acceleration if there is a uniform increase in velocity, for example
t = 1s then v = 3 m/s,
t = 2s 6 m/s then v= 9 m/s
t = 3s then v = 3 m/s
therefore the acceleration is 3 m/s2

Slide 5 - Diapositive

Calculating velocity:

v - velocity in m/s
x - position im m
t - time in s
v=ΔtΔx
Δx=xfinalxinitial

t - time in s
v - velocity in m/s

Slide 15 - Quiz

Calculating displacement
You can use the (v,t)-diagram
to calculate distance

Distance = area under the graph

From the digital method
If you understand this stuff, then do:
- Questions 4, 6 and 7 from the digital method.

If you are still strugling then look at the video again and try:
- Questions 1, 2 and 3 from the digital method.

Slide 18 - Diapositive

Try the following by yourself:
On the next slide you find question 5 from the textbook with a timer. Give yourself the allowed time to do the question and only when you have completed the question go to the following slide to check if you have it correct.
