1. Skimming is reading rapidly in order to get a general overview of the material. 2. Scanning is reading rapidly in order to find specific facts.

3. Intensive reading

How to answer?

Different types of questions:

– Questions about the whole text - Skim en search for the answer (eg: What is the text about?)

– Questions with detailed information as a desired answer: Scan and find the information
(eg. How tall is Mary?)

– If the paragraph is given still read one sentence before and after

– Multiple choice: Try to give the answer yourself first and then see if there's an answer fitting to it.
