03 - R094 - Justifying Your Chosen Concept

KO - Students will be able to critically review and select one concept sketch design for the visual identity of WhereAbouts Travel Guide, justifying their choice effectively in their project log.

ALL - Review their four concept sketch designs for the visual identity of WhereAbouts Travel Guide.

MOST - Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of each of their concept sketch designs, considering factors such as aesthetics, alignment with the project brief, and potential audience appeal.

SOME - Conduct a comprehensive critique of all four concept sketch designs, analysing design elements in-depth, including color theory, typography, and visual hierarchy.

Task 1 - Open email 

I have emailed you your concept sketches. You will need to rename and save the files to your R094 Task 1 folder - call the file/s concept_VI_sketches.jpg

Task 2 - go to www.photopea.com

Open up your mind map pdf document from the previous lesson (file > open in Photopea). Export the mind map as a PNG, so we can insert it into our project log PowerPoint (file > export as > png) - Save to your Task 1 folder, as mind_map.png.

Task 3 - Open your PowerPoint (with the mood board).

1. Insert the mind map PNG into the PowerPoint after the R094 Title Slide.
2. After your mood board add a new title slide and call it "1A - Design a visual identity"
3. After your title slide insert your sketch/s of your concept design.
4. After your sketch slide add a new title slide and call it "1B - Justify your design choices and why the visual identity is fit for purpose "

What is the difference between the 2 answers?

Task 4 - Write a justification of your choice of visual identity 

• Add the title ""1B - Justify your design choices and why the visual identity is fit for purpose "
• Look at your 4 concept designs. You now need to choose the best one that you want develop into a digital logo - Why did you pick your chosen design over the others? Did you combine any of your design features from multiple concepts?
• Consider both the client and target audience / consumer, colour scheme and typography.
• Write this on a new slide after the previous 1B Title Slide.
