Wanneer gebruik je 'If' en wanneer gebruik je 'When' ?

If = als

Gebruik:

• als je niet zeker weet of iets gaat gebeuren
• om een voorwaarde aan te geven

If you see Francis, tell her she's late for class.
If I won the lottery, I would buy a new car.

When= wanneer, als

When is used for things which are relatively sure to happen.

Gebruik: wanneer je vrij zeker weet dat iets gaat gebeuren.

My brother wants to join the army when he turns eighteen.

When I get the information I will send it to you. ( I know I will get the information).

... I'm late, start eating dinner without me.

Speaking Test: Conversation

Dates: 12, 14 and 17 May.

You do the test in pairs: asking and answering questions.

You get an assignment & picture so you know what to talk about.

For example:

A teacher is going to take a class of 15-year-olds on a school trip.

Talk together about the different places the class could visit and decide which trip the class would enjoy most.

To help you

Useful Language:

go sailing / boats / lake cinema / actors horses / riding school old castle art gallery / paintings I think … would be a good idea because is (more) interesting / boring because Most people like visiting / going to … I recommend that they go to … I think that they should choose...
