  • Was, were & could should be at the start of a sentence:
    Were your parents home late?, Was your dad in Italy two weeks ago?, Could  you cycle to school yesterday?
  • In case of other verbs, use did at the start of a sentence:
    Did  you go to their party? Did  you see the eclipse last weekend? Did  you get a ticket for speeding?
  • WH-words (who, what, when, where, which, how, why) should be at the start of a question:
    Why did you leave early? When did you travel to Spain? Where were you?

  • In case of was, were & could  you add -n't or not to the word:
    She could not wait to see her dog again., I wasn't happy with my grade., My parents weren't at my soccer game.
  • In case of other verbs add did not or didn't :
    I didn't  enjoy that movie. Jane didn't  travel to Italy. They did not  go to the festival.
