WORD ORDER

Zoals je weet bestaat er in het Engels een vaste woordvolgorde: 

wie / doet / wat / waar / wanneer.
(alleen "wanneer" kan ook verplaatst woorden naar het begin van de zin)

ADJECTIVES

Je kunt ook een adjective (bijvoeglijk naamwoord) aan een zin toevoegen. Een adjective zegt iets over het zelfstandig naamwoord (noun). Je zet ze dan voor het zelfstandig naamwoord.

He watched a funny film.

They bought a lovely dress.

We had a good time.

ADJECTIVES

Soms zet je een adjective achter het werkwoord. In dat geval geeft de adjective extra informatie over het onderwerp. 

Dit kan bij werkwoorden zoals to be, look, appear en seem.

  

She looks amazing in my new dress.

I am curious to see that new film.

They seem focussed on their singing careers.

What would be the function of an adverb?

What is an adverb?

Een 'adverb' (bijwoord) is een omschrijvend woord dat iets zegt over een 'verb'(werkwoord)  

bijvoorbeeld: I  can sing beautifully

Adverb = bijwoord

Een bijwoord gebruik je om aan te geven HOE iemand iets doet. Een bijwoord omschrijft vaak een werkwoord, maar ook een ander bijwoord, een bijvoeglijk naamwoord of de hele zin.

                                                                                    Mary sings wonderfully.

                                                     My grandparents talk incredibly loudly.

                            I am eating an amazingly delicious steak right now.

                                                         Hopefully, she will call me back later.

Hoe maak je een adverb?

What does an adverb do?

Bijwoorden (adverbs) zeggen dus iets over de manier waarop iets gebeurt.
