Today:

We continue finding topics and themes.

We watch two videos. 

We learn about the term 'genre'.

Topic

A topic is one word. It could be things like: love, friendship, family, war, food, courage and so on. There is often more than one topic in a story.

If you think about the story of Little Red Riding Hood (Roodkapje) the topics could be: courage and family.

Theme

A theme is the message the writer/film maker wants to tell you.

If we take Little Red Riding Hood again, a theme could be: be careful what you tell strangers.

Let's practise

Next we are going to watch a  short Pixar film named "Piper" about a young sandpiper (a bird). Then we are going to try and find TOPICS and a THEME.
