It is officially known as Washington's Birthday. That is because it specifically wants to honor George Washington, who was the first president of the United States.

About Independence Day
Independence Day is a federal holiday of the United States in which the Declaration of Independence was written. The Declaration of Independence would declare the American colonies free from the British monarchy. It was signed on the July 4and that's why Independence Day is also known as the "Fourth of July". People celebrate the independence of the United States for example with wearing the American flag colors and also fireworks.
