1: we study the earth as the dwelling place of man.
How does everything on Earth work (e.g. climate, volcanism, etc.)? This knowledge is quite useful.

2: We study man as an inhabitant of the earth.
How do we use the earth? How do we organize our countries (politically) and economy?

Two types of geography
Human geography = about human activities on earth (cities, cultures, economics, migration, etc.)

Physical geography = about natural features
 and natural processes on Earth
(landscapes, climates, natural disasters, etc.)

Weather vs. Climate
Weather = the state of the atmosphere in a specific place at a specific time

Climate = The average weather conditions over a longer period

  1. Water evaporates due to the heat of the sun
  2. Warm air rises and cools
  3. The water vapour condenses into tiny water droplets
  4. Droplets join to form bigger droplets and fall down from the sky
