What are Plants?

Plants are living things that grow in the ground. They need water, air, and sunlight to survive.

Parts of a Plant

Plants have roots, stems, leaves, and flowers. Each part has a specific job to help the plant grow.

Roots

Roots help plants to take in water and nutrients from the soil. They also hold the plant in place.

Stems

Stems support the plant and carry water and nutrients from the roots to the leaves and flowers.

Leaves

Leaves make food for the plant using sunlight, water, and air. They also release oxygen into the air.

Flowers

Flowers attract bees and other insects to help plants make seeds for new plants. They also make fruits.
