America before Columbus

Journey around the world

• Charles V sends a fleet of five ships led by Ferdinand Magellan
• In the end only one ship returned to Spain via Africa.
• After three years, the first trip around
  the world was completed.
  

Conquistadores

• Eventually Spanish conquerors came to
  America.
• These conquistadores wanted wealth, fame
  and power.
• Hernán Cortés conquerers Tenochtitlan and
  Francisco Pizarro conquers the Inca empire.

   alliances with the Spanish
