Tag question

Learning goal

- I can ask for confirmation (=bevestiging) by using tag questions. 

Which part is the tag question?
What is used to ask for confirmation?
- He is a runner, isn't he?
- She isn't in shape, is she?

- tag question: isn't he + is he

- vraag: waarom bij de een 'isn't he' en bij de tweede zin 'is she'?

TAG QUESTIONS

What?: Korte vraag aan het eind van de zin om bevestiging te vragen (in spreektaal).

TAG QUESTIONS

• Herhaal de persoonsvorm + onderwerp uit de hoofdzin.
  
  

TAG QUESTIONS - met een vorm van 'to be'

• Vorm van 'to be': am / are / is 
  
  
• Als hoofdzin positief is, wordt de tag question negatief (persoonsvorm + n't + onderwerp)
  > You are a runner, aren't you?
  
  
• Als hoofdzin negatief is wordt de tag question positief (persoonsvorm + onderwerp) 
  > She isn't happy, is she?

LET OP

• Een negatieve tag question met "I" , krijgt een andere vorm (deze moet je uit je hoofd leren).
  
  
• I'm a good basketball player, aren't I? 
  
  
• In een positieve tag question met "I" gebruik je wel gewoon 'am I' (I'm not a good basketball player, am I)

LET OP

• Gebruik altijd een persoonlijk vnw (I, you, we, they, he, she, it) in the tag question.
  
  
• Laura is a great hockey player, isn't Laura she.
  
• Jenny and Ella aren't at school, are Jenny and Ella they.
• The ball isn't on the field, is the ball it.

• Hulpwerkwoorden: do, does, have, has + ander ww
  
  
• Als de hoofdzin positief is, wordt de tag question negatief (do/does OF have/has + n't + onderwerp)
  > Jenna hasn't got a new jacket, has she?
  
  
• Als de hoofdzin negatief is, wordt de tag question positief (do/does OF have/has + onderwerp)
  > You don't want to play, do you?

hulpww is dus een werkwoord dat een ander ww helpt,

- We have a hockey match this Saturday = 1 werkwoord, dus is 'have' geen hulpwerkwoord

- Jenna hasn't got a new jacket = 2 ww, namelijk has + got
