Past Simple (1)
You can use words such as:
 last ..., ...
ago,
dates in the past,
yesterday 
with the past simple to signal you are talking about the past.

The Past Simple (2)
  • We visited the zoo last Friday.
  • I cycled there two weeks ago.
  • They climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in 2015.
  • My brother walked home yesterday

Past Simple (3)
You form the past simple of regular verbs by adding -ed to the verb. If the verb already ends in -e, you only add -d.

Examples:
  • We looked at the animals.
  • My sister liked feeding the seals.

Past Simple (4)
If the verb ends in a short vowel + one consonant, you double that consonant when you add -ed.

  • (to stop) He stopped to take a picture.
  • (to grab) They grabbed the food off the floor.

If the verb ends in a consonant + -y, you replace that -y with -ied.


  • (to try) The monkey tried to climb the tree.
  • (to cry) The player cried after losing the final.

Past Simple
We use the Past Simple, for finished action in the past. 

We also call this FINISHED TIME..... IT CAN NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN
Examples of finished time:

Last year, a couple of months ago, yesterday, last week, in 2007,

How to form a Past Simple?

Verb+ed

Example: 

1.I talked to my friend last night
2. He Travelled to Europa a couple of months ago.

Marry / Cry and try?

If a verb ends with a -Y and you hear a --> (AAI sound)  or (IE sound)

you get +ied                !!!NOT +YED!!!!!!
