From his father's example of village leadership and hearing stories about African peoples suffering under European colonization, Mandela learned about responsibility and the importance of fighting for justice.
2. What rules did apartheid create for non-white people in South Africa?
They couldn't: live where they wanted, study what they wanted, marry white people.
3. How did Nelson Mandela spend his time during his 27 years in prison?
He studied from prison, received a bachelor of laws degree from the University of London, improved living conditions for prisoners, and exchanged letters with anti-apartheid activists.
